I wish to LEARN ABOUT LIFE ....

Our volunteers came across Shri Lakshmi, a 16years old pretty girl from a small village in North Karnataka, a few days prior to her surgery. Our volunteers sensed that Shri Lakshmi has a very positive attitude towards life. On interacting further, she shared that her inspiration in life is her favorite author Swami Jagadatmananda’s book called ‘Badukalu Kaliri’, which means- ‘Learn about Life’. According to her, such books give her the strength to overcome any kind of pain in life. As Shri Lakshmi enjoys reading anything related to life and philosophy, her dearest wish was to read some other books written by Swami Jagadatmananda and a few other authors.

On 8th November, 2010 Shri Lakshmi was deeply delighted to receive her favorite books from our volunteers. However, her attitude to face life, even though she knows that she is living with a life threatening illness is indeed commendable.

I wish to make my own toys....

Seven years old Daval is a fun filled, naughty child who lives with a life threatening illness. Our volunteer met him when he was admitted in one of the famous hospitals in Bangalore. Daval soon became very friendly and shared that he likes flying kites, playing marbles and making shapes in ‘mud’ out of his mother’s sight. From further conversation with the kid, our volunteer understood that Daval’s cherished wish was to make toys out of clay.

On 13th September 2010, our volunteer fulfilled Daval’s wish with a set of colorful Clay. Our volunteer was immensely surprised to see that Daval made amazing replicas of a Christmas tree, a flower, a fish and a beautiful house out of the clay set. But more amazing was that sweet smile on his face which made everyone present there smile as well.

Wish to be a cook

Ranjitha is a 16 years old cute and very shy girl from Doddabellapur, Karnataka, who lives with a life threatening illness. When our volunteers met her and started interacting with her they thought that she may not open up and that she is too shy. But eventually they found that hers was a very unique wish.

Our volunteers asked her about herself and her interests and then she slowly became friendly and started sharing that she likes to play badminton and kabaddi, she is good at making rangoli, likes to read sometimes and so on. But apart from all that, what she really enjoys doing is nothing but cooking! She expressed that she would love to be a cook, for which she often experiments various dishes from magazines and cookery programs on TV.

On 3rd August 2010, our volunteers had a surprise for Rajitha. She first saw the cookery books with her favorite vegetarian dishes and was so happy that she started going through it. Suddenly our volunteers gave her a pan and a spatula and then an apron and the cook’s cap! She just could not stop smiling. She wore the apron and the cap and insisted our volunteers on clicking more and more photos in her cook’s look.
